Yeah, they are best used sparingly. Some sites (e.g. Twitter) actually let you pause them.

Yeah, but the button bar adapts to screen size. Even if I zoom in on my 15" laptop screen, some buttons disappear and I think that's what Kimmio is running into.

@Kimmio Laughterlove I moved the emoji button to be first in its section on the small and extra small toolbars, which are the one used on phones. You may need to refresh.

You don't see the GIF button because you're on a phone. Each section can only display two buttons on that size screen. My Galaxy is the same.

As for the buttons not working, I wonder if you're the BB Code mode (which is for more advanced, technical users). I know I sometimes get stuck in that mode. Look for a button that looks like this: [ ] and tap it, then try other buttons. It should be in the last three dot sub-bar.
