Right now, if you click the image button on the toolbar while editing a post, you only have the option to link to an image online. If you want to upload an image of your own, you have a more complicated process to follow.

Xenforo 2.1 simplifies the process considerably. Now, when you click the image button, it defaults to a new uploader that is modelled on those used by cloud drives like Google Drive. You can either drag an image from another window on your computer to where it says "Drop Image" or click on the uploader to launch the Open File window and find the the file that way.

Insert image.PNG

Linking is still an option, too. You click the picture icon, then the link icon (circled below) to get a box where you enter or paste the URL.

Link Image.PNG

Pasting an image directly into your post is also still an option.

Note that pasted and uploaded images use our disk space (but don't worry, we still have plenty and I have the ability to start "housecleaning" old files if it becomes a problem) while linking does not.

What do you think? Does this look like an improvement?

It does. Any improvement on the size of files that can be uploaded?

We can set that but don't want to go too high given that we do have finite disk space. It's current at 1MB, the default, but I think we could safely go up to maybe 3MB and I can implement that as part of the upgrade.

We don't have any limits on resolution, BTW, though that is also an option. Just be aware that a very high resolution image is more likely to run afoul of the size limit and may not display well on other's screens depending on their device.

That's really good and much easier since in the present version you need to upload a picture to a host site before being able to insert it here.
I also think that the interface is friendly and light and in general looks more modern than the current version.

Count me as a traditionalist. I still prefer to grab images from the web or take partial screenshots using the Imgur plugin and link directly to those images in BB code, just like grandma taught me when I was a kid.

And 90% of the people on this board just went, "Huh?":nerd:

But you are still able and welcome to do it that way if that's how you swing.
