You've made it here! Hopefully the basic features will come naturally to you, but if it doesn't we are here to help!
The subforum topics can be viewed by clicking the forums button on the top page.
Underneath that, you may find the New Posts to be useful. This will show all of the threads that have posts that you have not seen. If you click on a thread title from this list, it will jump to the first new post.
To view a thread, click on forums at the top of the page. Click on the subforum you are interested in, for example click on 'Social', and then click on the title of a thread.
To jump to the oldest post that you have not yet read click on Go to First Unread which is on the left hand side both above the original post, as well as below the last post for that thread.
To write a post, type in the box that says Write your reply... and then click the red Post Reply button, or more options, which offers the option to Preview before posting.
To start a new thread, there's a red Post New Thread button near the top and bottom of every forum.
If you wish to quote someone, the simplest way is to click Reply on the right hand side of the post you are interested in. If you use reply on a post that already included a quote from elsewhere, that quote will not automatically be included in your reply (see posts below for an example).
When reading through a thread where posters have used this reply feature to quote one another, a little up arrow appears to the right of X said: . If you click this arrow, you will be taken up to the post that was used for the quote (see posts below to test this out).
Someone can be tagged by typing the @ symbol, and then start typing their username, without a space. When a box pops up with the correct name, click it. For example, my tag is: @ChemGal. Tagging someone will alert them if they have that option selected. Readers can also bring up the user's profile box by clicking on this tag.
A tip for getting around a bit quicker is the Quick Navigation icon. It looks like 3 horizontal bars at the bottom right hand side, and when you hover your cursor over it, Open Quick Navigation appears. If you click it a popup button appears. You can access everything on the site without using this, but this might save you a few clicks from getting to where you want to go.
