Have I ever mentioned how fascinated I am by bugs?

Ants are one of the most fascinating. Found nearly everywhere on this planet, they are probably as much the dominant species on this planet as we are and may well outlive us. Anyhow, this wonderful ant story came out of Hurricane Harvey. I had heard of ants rafting before, but rafts of stinging, venomous ants has to be the ultimate in nightmare fuel for those with phobias about bugs.

Everything you wanted to know about those horrifying fire ant rafts

Mental bugs or just intercourse with what bugs you on mind as alternate sex ... in sects as internal dissonance?

We are into the last 24 hours of the Cassini mission to Saturn. Early tomorrow morning, the spacecraft will make a final dive in Saturn's atmosphere, burning up like a meteor on its way down.

While NASA has a very good reason for ending things this way, it is a bit of a sad day for us planetary exploration fans. Cassini has provided some incredible views of, and data about, the planet and its moons including the first clear evidence that one of them, Enceladus, would be capable of supporting some kind of life.

Cassini: The Grand Finale: Overview

A catalog of the mission's major discoveries:

NASA — Cassini Spacecraft: Top Discoveries

And the spacecraft will keep collecting and sending data for as long as it's radio remains operational and pointed at Earth so there could more to come.

Poignant euthenasia!
I think therez a Bradbury story in this event somewhere...
"Look Gotfilk, a burning star. Make a wish"
--Saturnite to another, translated from Gasbagese

Aaaand once again we discover a cool new species that's already on the brink of extinction thanks to us.

Giant Solomon Islands rat believed to eat coconuts discovered

Short version: They found a new species of eat about the size of an opossum that can chew through a coconut husk (allegedly). Apparently, the locals have known about them for eons but it's taken this long for a specimen to be confirmed. And it is going straight on to the critical list due to habitat destruction.

Does this mean we are getting less nutty or justly deficient in those others ...

I remember a National Geographic article from years ag0 about the history of rats ... I SE Asia where the rats were a plague to the rice fields the farmers bought the exterminated home for meals ...

These were not rats from sewers but from sowers ... a clean satyr!

Young earthers are practiced at avoiding multiple aspects of reality. One PBS series should be easy for them.
