It's a bit early but I saw this absolutely adorable video and couldn't resist using it to get our Christmas music thread booted up.

Giorgio Michael is the eldest of the three children of Gianni and Sarah of Walk Off the Earth, and the band all appear in the video (Santa is one of them) hence it being released as a WOTE video. He looks a lot like Dad when he sings, but seems to have Mom's hair.

NEVAH 2 EARLY MUA HA *COUGH HONK*

An adorable and also wistful advert by a grocery chain ? that was banned lol for being too political lol sheesh

And that has what, exactly, to do with the topic of this thread? I mean, I agree with it but wouldn't the message be better served in its own thread in Earth & Our World?

On topic, this year was the 25th anniversary of the release of The Nightmare Before Christmas and so there have been quite a few covers of songs from that wonderful Halloween-Christmas crossover around this fall.

It was an ad intended for Christmas :3
Apparently ad agencies have an informal competition to create really neet Christmas ads
So that commercial is officially my first of 2018
Judiciously Extravagant,

You for the explanation. I went back and watched it – twice. It definitely spoke to me of Christmas.
It would be easier to connect with Christmas, perhaps, if it mentioned that Jesus parents were refugees at the time of his birth and there was no room in the inn.

From Lindsay Stirling's new holiday themed album, Lindsay and Sabrina Carpenter cover a classic from my childhood.

A bit of nostalgia from me to you. My mom still has a cassette recorded from the original LP...gets played every year. But it’s about ready to break! Good that I can find it online!

I am not overly fond of We Three Kings, but this version may change that, at least a little. It's Hound + Fox (who I have posted about in Random Acts of Music several times) teaming up with the marvellous bass Tim Faoust of the group Home Free.

EM are oulde ... jealousies ... why child are released fro heaven ... due to the broach and breachings ... and thus the light comes thro' ... considerable pain in the second birth too ... if one is to learn something of the unlearned ... stumps meis!

The more I hear of Hound + Fox's Christmas album, the closer I get to deciding it's to buy a new Christmas album.

I am not familiar with the guest artist on First Noel, but it's a lovely version and the setting for the video, a rustic-looking church, is perfect.

And from Canadian singer Serena Ryder's new Christmas album, a lively fifties sounding number.

In 1981 on Christmas Eve I recorded Mom & Dad singing this ...

I have put it on you tube with their wedding picture as the cover ... now anyone that has a phone with internet can pull it up and play it for Mom in the hospital ... last time I played it for her her comment was "That man could sing - but only if he wanted to - and better if he had a bottle of Advocaat!"

"Ere zij God" is the best-known Dutch carol in the Netherlands, and many Christian Reformed congregations with and without Dutch immigrants have made this song part of their Christmas celebration.

Dutch (English)
Ere zij God! (Glory to God!) In den hoge! (In the highest!)
Vrede op aarde, vrede op aarde, in de mensen een welbehagen.
(Peace on the earth, peace on the earth to the people who have God’s favor.)
Amen, amen.

A wee piece of earth may go a long way in deep space the way we're going ... a blast out of what past ... we don't know contrary to those that demand that they do ...

Thus all remains in chaos as a Niche 'd noched ... as gnawed upon by Don ...

The nibble of curios goes on ...

Dawn on our darkness...

I can't link the YouTube vid. It's Star of the East by the St Olaf choir if you want to check it out. Sorry.

I love this version with the dulcimer...It's properly an Epiphany carol but the words, are beautiful & appropriate.

"Shall we not yield him in costly devotion, odours of Edom and offerings sublime?
Gems from the mountain and pearls from the ocean...myrrh from the forest and gold from the mine?
Vainly we offer each ample oblation. Vainly with gifts would
his favour secure.
Richer to God is the heart's adoration,
Dearer to Him are the prayers of the poor."

Okay, I already posted the song in a live version, but the official video is out and it's just too cute not to post.
