The Wedding of the year? decade? century?

OK folks, moderators have been having a behind the scenes discussion about the move into discussion of the wedding gift and costs of the Royal Wedding.

It's a valid topic, but perhaps doesn't fit here. I've opened a thread called "Royal Wedding: Gift And Costs" and moved all related posts to that thread. Some comments (including the mod warning) that wouldn't make sense with those comments having been removed have simply been deleted.

So, go to the other thread if you want to discuss the wedding gift or the costs of the wedding. Stay here to discuss the wedding itself.

Sussex Drive - Canadian connection

For those not sure what CH and I are talking about, the Queen gave Harry the title Duke of Sussex, which means Meghan automatically became the Duchess of Sussex once the rings were on.

And here is the official wedding video from the official Royal Family YouTube channel:

I've just been reading reviews (with photos) about the Royal's reactions to Rev. Curry's sermon. :ROFLMAO: Their gobsmacked faces are the best. Somebody tweeted to Americans to explain that "expressing emotion during a Church of England service is technically heresy." LOL. Someone else said "He (Rev. Curry) finally brought the Royals to church!"

Camilla was saying something to Kate but that freaky hat hid her face (maybe the hat was intentionally picked for that function). When she straightened her head, she did not look very pleased.

Then, of course, there are the traditionalist - monarchist commenters, aghast at the whole event. They can suck eggs. It was an awesome wedding!

I watched the sermon on Youtube this afternoon. Now that's preaching. Great sermon well delivered. If the stuff shirt old-fashioned CoE types don't like it, that's on them, not Curry.

Then, of course, there are the traditionalist - monarchist commenters, aghast at the whole event.

If the monarchy doesn't keep becoming a more contemporary institution, they'll be even more aghast when republicanism starts rising. William/Kate and Harry/Meghan are the future of the monarchy and if they don't start breaking some traditions and moving things forward, they could be the end of the monarchy.

I haven’t watched it yet but I don’t think you can criticize folks if what they heard is unusual for them. We know that Brit are as a rule, more subdued and keep their emotions in check much more than southern Americans. It is just a cultural thing.

The royal couple heading to the reception. Nice ride. Jaguar E-Type Concept Zero. Basically takes the E-Type chassis and body, regarded by many as one of the most beautiful automobile designs ever (it was originally produced in the late sixties and early seventies), and adds a modern plug-in electric drive train in place of the classic V-12 engine. Much quieter, more economical, and more environmentally friendly than the original. As a longtime Jag fan, I'd happily own one of these beauties. Alas, I think it's just a limited production concept car or something like that.

how many folks googled jaguar after this drive.

I didn't have to:D. I am generally not given to living the high life, but my one weakness in that regard is British touring cars. If I won the lottery, there'd be a Jag or maybe even an Aston-Martin in my drive in no time.

Elton John had the best face. hahahaha
Somebody said, “He’s lived in the US long enough to not be bothered about it (the ceremony style). That’s just ‘resting Elton face’ .” I mean, it’s Elton John, for crying out loud! With the spectacular and, at one time, controversial performaces he’s given...as if he’d be offended!

I thought he and the queen had very similar facial expressions. Hers was “resting Queen face.”

How warm and pleasing this is
Kudoes 2 u, friends, for having a chathread like this
Mmm mmm...I can smell the cookies, wine, craft beer and devonshire cream with Yorkshire tea

Okay. I’ll wait for John Oliver to do a funnier job (criticizing) them, then.

Some of the photos of the Royals’ faces are truly priceless, though. Can’t blame anybody for poking a bit of fun at them - it’s not like they’ve never even heard of a preacher with a style like this, ...and the captions almost write themselves.
