Saudi Arabia

Bizarre. Kind of unnerving. It definitely seems like a disproportionate and weird response from the Saudis. Then again, I suppose that is to be expected from them. It's not like they are not known for being over the top in several ways, both cruel and extravagant.

This, I think, might affect tourism there. I'm thinking not too many Canadians will be vacationing or going to work there. What do you think?

I'm not much up on politics - so not be best commentator here! I have heard/read tho that Saudi had similar spat with several other countries in the past - eventually resolved.

One issue with cancellation of flights is that people from here are going to Mecca for haj pilgrimage and have already booked flights - some are there already, uncertain of how they will return home. Via a 3rd country I suppose, which is common in the middle east.

True. I was being a bit facetious. It’s the last place I’d want to go as a Canadian tourist, or for work of any kind. Well, there are a few places, all in the Middle East, that I would strongly avoid.

The young prince of Saudi Arabia seems to be making strong statements about the future of his country. This story got good commentary and analysis on CBC news (available on the web), and in The Guardian (Britain). In fact, The Guardian took a strong position on the side of Canada.

A bizarre twist is that John Baird has taken up the Saudi cause (not sure what he is being paid), and is asking Trudeau to fly to Saudi Arabia and apologize for Canada's actions.

Canada stands very much alone on this. And that's good. There have been many things we should have stood alone
on - by refusing to sent troops to Afghanistan, by refusing to bomb Libya, by refusing to send trainers to Syria, by refusing to sell weapons to the Saudis.... We have to separate ourselves from much of what's going on.

Allah (pbuh) provides. They need not worry :3
Remember, Islam means submission. Allah is always on their side.

Geez - I watched a documentary from The Passionate Eye on CBC the other night. I had no idea re some of the things going on in Saudi Arabia. Frightening place.

You should study then enough so that u can experience reality from their perspectzcles :3
It'll b mind blowing. You'll stop worrying aboot some things :3

I still remember that time I got a book request 4 Neuromancer from a man from Riyadh if my memory serves correctly.
I asked him couldn't he fet it himself, as it would probably b cheaper.
He said he has to worry aboot the Religious Police.
So I helped corrupt/free someone a bit...or helped land him in jail eep!

Still like 2 visit here (tho most likely won't), this example of Avalon, the Golden City, full of amazements and status symbols
They have a lot of f*** you money
And in ways are less anal than USA; I've seen serious conferences there on UAP and Psi phenomena.

I guess when one has the Power and High Status, one doesn't have to worry aboot losing Status...which is prolly why things like UAP and Psi have been soo ignored for so long...scientists can lose their jobs...

He's consulting for a mining company owned by them, or something? It's the opposite of his stance as foreign minister. He even tweeted almost the same message at one point when he worked for the Feds. It is weird.

No. They cannot do whatever they want. Unless you think that all the promises we made to our service people about world government after World War Two were lies.
