Okay, I completely forgot to turn this feature on after the upgrade. I will be activating it shortly.

As I mentioned in an Upcoming Features thread, this enables your browser (unless you're living in the Apple-verse) to pop up a message when you get a conversation or alert on WC2. Alerts are triggered by things like people quoting or @ mentioning you. You can control what alerts trigger the push notifications.

After I activate it, you will probably get prompted to enable push notifications. If you click the lick to enable them, your browser may also ask for permission to receive them. Make sure you click "Allow" or "Enable" (it varies between browsers, though I know Chrome uses "Allow").

If you want to turn them on later, turn them off, or edit what alerts trigger them, click your username to get the menu of user options, then click preferences. There is a section there that begins with the heading, "Receive a notification when someone". Just uncheck any that you do not wish to receive notifications for. To turn them off completely, you can either uncheck all options or go into your browsers settings and remove the permission (this depends on the browser).

And it is now switched on and I have enabled it on my browser.

BTW, if you're on an Apple device, the word from Xenforo is that the lack of support for them isn't Xenforo's problem. Apple doesn't currently support the common protocol that is used in Windows and Android browsers for these notifications. So bug Apple, not me or Xenforo.
