Then they banned the politicians, along with the parties that put them in power ... and started over ... nice!

Would we still end up with trees full of extremists ... radical rationalizations? Life provides crazy choices if one cannot think and process through the crap ... fertility for going on ... what then? We still wouldn't know cause it is hard to tell an authority anything and once humans were told biblically that they were god's ... well it all went downhill in a rush!

People are very fluid that way until flush ... with the bottom ...

    Self-governing for 7 years now
So nice to see such poor and poverty stricken, disadvantaged, truly oppressed people taking control of their lives. Risky.
And they did this in an environment of violence and oppression (the state they live in apparently is one of the bloodiest in the United States of Mexico).
Now women can walk the streets at night.
The city still gets funding from the state and the country and after long legal battles got official recognition by Mexico.
The town that threw out police, politicians and gangsters

Now I don't know quite yet how to categorize their form of government...anarchist? Direct democracy?

Sounds like one of the reasons why they are succeeding is their community; no one is outside of the community therefore no alienation or purposeless or meaninglessness. Large families.

The indigineous are called the Purepecha.

Good, then. I hope it continues to go well for them. Mexico has a whole other host of problems, and I am glad they found a solution in their little town.
