I'm not sure what I'd do with a grocery that didn't stock what I consider a basic, if limited use, cleaning product.

Skunks gotta skunk, but if you have no dogs or cats, do you care?

Yes when we can't go out in our yard because one of the strays has caused the resident skunk to stink!

    Doesn't sound like you're great "yard-dwellers" anyway?

LAST, as I consider the ever-evolving relationship between humanity and creation.

Skunks belong in the wild, not in urban centres.

Urbanity expands -- Pope Urban ... (just to support the merchant class)! Churches do that in guilds ... for a guiding future ... guilters! Resemble shaman ... vaguely !

Skunk still around - or at least a skunk is still around...as there are dozens and dozens and dozens of skunks here it may not even be the same one in our yard.

so the skunk is a nuisance because stray dogs and cats get sprayed? Perhaps controlling the stray pets is the real issue. Bethanne the skunk is just a nuisance-not a health or property threat. Can't you find a way to co-exist?

Once...however, I have been "inconvenienced" 7 times by food scraps and other slightly composted material spread over my sidewalk and step and increased damage to the compost bin...I can live with the smell, I can't live with being a feeding place for strays or other wildlife....and, again, you are more than welcome to come get any and all of the skunks and give them a good home.

Skunk spray can actually be quite dangerous if sprayed directly.
I wouldn't want one in my backyard. If I was on an acreage and it was away from the house, shed, etc. that would be different. They are good for controlling pests, but can be a pest themselves.

I have skunks in my neighborhood and have seen precisely one live one in the 18 years we've been living there. They are nocturnal grub eaters so we rarely cross paths.

Hello from the Great Smokey Mountains.

BA I am unlikely to come and remove your skunk. It's probably an 11 hour drive.

Sounds like the answer may be fairly simple. A new skunk proof compost is needed.

In some places you could be fined for feeding wildlife.......

You seem to be so concerned I'm surprised you aren't willing to make the drive to protect it and provide a shelter so you can peacefully co-exist with it.

Fines are on the books in this area.

Our dogs cornered a skunk underneath our vehicle many years ago. The people who worked alongside my hubby still talk about his stinky vehicle that infected the entire parking lot.
