How smart is that? Revert to a curriculum that is essentially pre-internet. So no contemporary concerns about consent, privacy, etc., JUST to start... I'm starting to hope that this one is a particularly painful "you get what you vote for" lesson.

Do it w/o thought ... sort of like brute force of polity (means excessive in some dictionaries) ... thus excesses go on in real worldly types without thoughts from out of their spectra ... an uneducated guess 'd ?

Municipal election weirdness here in London. We have mayoralty candidates coming out our wazoo (14, I think, now that former London West federal MP & ex-Harper cabinet minister Ed Holder has jumped in) but ward races aren't attracting similar interest. Three wards aren't even being contested as of today, with the incumbents being the only registered candidates, and others have only two or three. Two weeks to go until nominations close so it will be interesting to see if anyone steps up.

FYI, I'll have to see where Holder stands on a couple issues, but he might become my choice if he takes stands on those issues I can support.

Ribfest in my community this weekend! Anybody hungry? As my husband was out for his early morning walk, he said the aroma of brisket being slow cooked was wafting across from the park :) I think we'll probably go get some supper there - good musicians performing, family activities etc. etc.

London's is the August long weekend but we rarely go. Not really our thing. I see that, like our Food Festival, they have added craft beer to the mix for this year. London has several small breweries now so it makes sense. Good way to plug some local product.

Oh, it's Friday the 13th and if you're from Southwestern Ontario, that means only one thing and it's not bad luck. It means it's time to hop on your motorbike and head for Port Dover.

I have a friend who is doing that for the first time this year. He posted a picture on Instagram. It looks like a madhouse. Busy, busy.

It is Northwind - and the local churches get involved too - opening space, serving meals etc.

We were there on a Friday the 13th once a few years ago. My mother-in-law had a cottage in the area. It was eerie being followed by so many bikers. We went into town for a bit and it was quite lively. It was a fun time. I understand why people do that. Port Dover and towns like it are cool anyway.

I am a shy person about rib-fests ... prefer to do my ribbing and Reuben's at home ... then you know what goes into them ...

That's just one school, even if it is board policies that are the problem. I'm sure you could find a problem school or two here, too (don't know any teachers but I know my son had tales to tell about some of the high schools).

OMG, it's happening. It's really happening. We are finally going to get a new bridge between Windsor and Detroit that can actually handle more than one lane of traffic in each direction. I usually use the Bluewater in Sarnia (closer to London and not as busy), but this might get me using Windsor again once it's done.
