Conversations

Conversations are similar to private messages on some forums, or wondermail on the original wondercafe.

To access your conversations, click the inbox on the top right hand corner. From here, you can open a previous conversation, organize your conversations or start a new one.

To Start a New Conversation

There are 3 ways to do this:

A) After going to your inbox, click the red Start a New Conversation box
B) From the forums, click on a user's name to open their Profile Box. Click 'Start a Conversation'
C) From a user's Profile Page, under the Information tab, click 'Start a Conversation'

You should now be on the Start a New Conversation page.
In the participants box, type the user names of those you wish to include. As you type the names, a popup with the username and avatar will appear, you can click on those to save yourself from having to type out the full names.
Writing and sending the message is similar to posting on the forums.

At the bottom there are two optional boxes:
Allow anyone in the conversation to invite others - this allows a current participant to include others. If this occurs, the new users can see ALL the previous replies in that conversation, not just the new ones.
Lock conversation - this stops any more replies from other participants, and the conversation can only be viewed by them. The person who started the conversation can continue to reply though.

These are only options at the beginning of the conversation, they cannot be turned on or off during replies.

Previous Conversations

There are a few options for organizing your conversations. Start by clicking the Inbox.
Conversations can be selected by checking the box beside them, multiple selections can be made at a time. The arrows in the popup box allow you to scroll if you wish to select conversations that do not appear on the same page. All of the conversations can be selected by checking "Select All" on this popup box.

Once selected, choose from the drop down menu the appropriate action. Ie. Star, unstar, mark as unread, etc.
Leave Conversations is essentially a delete function. When leaving a conversation, there are two options:
Accept future messages - the conversation will be deleted, but if there are future replies you will be included. The previous replies can also be seen again if this occurs.
Ignore future messages - the conversation will be deleted, and you will not be included on any future replies.


To view your conversations in an organized manner, there are defaults near the top which include Starred Conversations and Conversations You Started.

More organization options can be found by clicking 'Conversation Display Options' below the list. This allows you to show conversations based on who started them, or by who was a participant.

If you are unable to start a conversation with someone, it is probably due to their privacy settings. If they start a conversation with you though, you may reply as long as the conversation is not locked.

If a reply box is not shown in a conversation, it is because the conversations is locked and you will not be able to reply.

Email Alerts
As mentioned in the Profile & Privacy Tips thread you can set alerts to be sent to your email account that is connected to your Wondercafe2 account. You may get this from both conversations and forums, depending on your settings. You CANNOT respond to other members by replying to these emails. Any time you reply to an email, it goes to an admin account that is primarily used for manners related to running the site, which can be accessed by the admin team.
