And, to close, Soundgarden, his first, and arguably best, band. The final song in tis set, "Fell on Black Days", was, per the article, Cornell reflecting on his battles with depression and addiction so I'll leave it there. Probably the best place to leave off this tribute. FYI, an amateur video of the final Soundgarden concert from Detroit the night he died is up on Youtube. Google it, though. I figure it'll get hit with a takedown fairly quickly so I won't bother embedding it here.

In this link is a clip of Ann Wilson from Heart, covering "Black Hole Sun" on Jimmy Kimmel. I was thinking she has the perfect voice for it - especially now that she's older, it's deepened from the years of strain, but it works... However she looks awkward up there standing behind a music stand with the house band in the background...so not rock n' roll. But it was a good gesture.

Heart itself started in the Seattle area but almost two decades before the era of bands like Soundgarden. The Wilson sisters own a studio in Seattle, too. So having her tribute Cornell seems appropriate.

Here's the clip as found on Wilson's channel.

I'll try to make this my last Chris Cornell post for a while but this video came up on my Youtube feed and I couldn't resist. It's Chris covering "Redemption Song" by Bob Marley at a concert in New York, a song he had covered many times. What makes this performance special is his co-vocalist: Toni, his daughter (one of three kids he had from his two marriages), who was 11 when they gave this performance.

This is beautiful...

I first heard that on an album of Cornell's that I borrowed from the library and was gobsmacked. It's definitely Billie Jean but so very different from Jackson's original. Still a great song, but quite different in approach. The best kind of cover.

What sah blah Kole thing other than laid out on whitewashed parchment? Needs some SET Ire like humus!

Po' etics like a tree ... growing irrationally ... stumped while in the bush due to shadows cast with license ... after that one may be required to take high flight due to teleological rules ...that loose sight of the primary cause!

It was the chewing out by de fodder ... the green grass of homo ... as well stirred ...
