This was my most interesting find on Earth Day 2017:

Gloves for a reason.

Yesterday, I went for a run with a friend and a bike ride with my daughter. Just on the road, because the trails are too wet and we don't want to damage them.

Actual cleanup day is now this Saturday. Can't wait to find what my neighbours have been tossing out their car windows this year.

Never seem this kind of product before; this is hilarious!

That's hilarious chanson - I think you get the gold medal!!

We also hung laundry outside to dry yesterday - first time this spring :) We generally hang it in the basement rather than using our dryer, but outside makes the sheets & towels smell so fresh!!

i helped our landlady plant her new Fig Tree
i was like "where do you want 2 plant it?"
(im imagining it 2 be a big branchy bushtree)
she takes me to a stump of one of her fruit trees and says "here"
so she and i gradually try to pry this tiny but bloody persistent trunk out
i tell her ive never done this before
she and i eventually only use non verbal communication
and get the darn stump outta there with shovels and limbs and guts and legs and grunts!!!
our backs and arms and legs oh my!!!
now its waiting for rain in the garden.
and i feel. very. very. good.
the Fig tree is teeny. but im sure she'll grow up plump and firm

I"m happy to share jae - no secrets here. I wore a nice bright floral print dress to church this morning, as I was greeting. Virtually everyone who came in gave a smile and commented about enjoying the colours and we agreed that today's sunshine was welcome & that spring is on it's way in at last. I went for a walk, picked up some litter along the way. I prep'd a printer cartridge to pop it in the mail tomorrow so it can be recycled by its manufacturer. I strolled my garden, saying hello to all the plants that are working their way into view again after their winter's rest - to grace my world with natural beauty. I admired photos my husband took on his trip to High Park this morning where he saw a bird that's new to us - a Night Heron. We looked it up in our field guide and learned something new about nature around us.

Okay - your turn.

I took a two prong approach Carolla. First, I posted this thread here at WC2 to raise Earth Day awareness. Second, I participated in Toronto's excellent recycling program.

I did also consider wearing a nice bright floral print dress, but decided the weather is still too cold.

Could you elaborate a bit on this Jae. How did you participate in Toronto's recycling programme? Was it active participation at a collection point or did you merely throw your newspapers in a recycling bin? Maybe it was something else entirely - I really would like to know what you did.

If he threw all his stuff into the appropriate bins he did more than a lot of folks are doing. Contaminated recycling is a big problem in this city. (Of course the city makes it complicated, but don't get me started.)

Hear, hear! Contaminated recycling is a problem everywhere. My boarder downstairs is friggin' hopeless; he's not stupid, he's just lazy and doesn't care, from what I can see.

There seems to be lots of confusion around recycling. Much of it coming from us not having a consistent method. It varies from place to place depending on the local facilities. Last year we were told to put plastic bags in the recycle bin. This year we are told to NOT put plastic bags in the recycle bin!

Wish it would be possible to restrict packaging materials in order to fit the recycling profile of an area. Maybe we'd see more compostable packaging.

I once called our former mayor about a recycling issue and she said: Oh...I don't bother to check what number the plastic is; I throw everything in...Someone else can sort it. Needless to say, she is no longer our mayor.

larned somethin new
"contaminated recycling" (y)
i wonder how long b4 they make it into a new crime like was done with Jaywalking (short history The forgotten history of how automakers invented the crime of "jaywalking" ) lol
in Vancouver WA "stealing" someone's recycling is illegal lol

Yes, it's a way to prevent the homeless/unemployed from "canning" - rescuing payable recyclables (liquor bottles, beer cans, etc.) from bins.

Problem with this contamination is that someone who puts a mayonnaise jar in the recycling half full of mayonnaise can "contaminate" a lot of plastic. But the rules do need to be consistent and clear. And they're not. Anywhere.

The problem is few give a'damn ... as a cursed thought that taunted Eve ... the Shadow of conscience!

Tis like words recorded thoughts ... authorities hated common people to be wiser ... was a threat to position ... ma' yers fall over this stuff ... without question!

Only a deuce counts ... one part spirit, one part soul ... the latter processing portion?

No one-way about it some weaving involved ...

I deposited items into correct recycling bins for later collection and processing.
