Beautiful, Nancy! Given the way the weather's been this summer (varying from second to second), that's some good omen that it was so nice!

We had a big due at our house for the out of town guests on Friday night...We have a little house, so hoped we could have most of it outside but the weather report promised thunderstorms. Saturday, wedding day, also called for showers in the morning, and clearing but cool later in the day. Well...somehow the weather reports were wrong, but in a good way. Friday was great for inside/outside dining and visiting, and the outdoor wedding and reception could not have been more perfect. I am SOOO happy that this turned out so well for my daughter and everyone else. Thanks for all of your good thoughts and wishes, everyone.

I spent the weekend at Five Oaks. (Yes, I spend a lot of time there, still)

The first group was a delightful group of youth with their young adult leaders and adult leaders, approx 30 in total. One memory I will hold is teaching them how to start a campfire, and the sound of their singing.
Then, the 2nd group came in which was a number of families who started their weekend with a baptism in the pool. It was freezing all morning, and the sun came out and they had a blast. (There were a total of 88 in their group -- from babies to grandmas)

It was awesome to hear the sounds of over 120 folks on the property, and yet, we could still have held more.
What a weekend.

What a weekend.

Sounds like a good time was had by all. Which faith traditions did they represent?

Picked 19 lbs of blueberries today in about 2 hrs. Great picking. 21 degrees and a nice breeze. Now I have to get them into the freezer for the winter ( I usually have a fruit smoothy for breakfast every morning). Paid $34.50. Feel like a squirrel hiding the nuts..

Good for you Mrs.Anteater. We were up to our camp yesterday. I took a coupld of containers for blue berries. Usually they are so plentiful I could pick a quart around the dooryard before breakfast. This year they are tiny and hard - it's been that dry. They haven't had a chance to fill out. I got about a pint but will have to add sugar and water to boil them down for a slice of bread.
We had lots of rain in the spring - I have plenty of strawberries and rhubard in the freezer.

We are truly blessed with the bounty of our gardens and farms at this time of year. I've got my eye on a juicy tomato for a sandwich at lunch today!

I'm busy cleaning house & preparing for guests. My cousin & his wife who live in the southern US are coming for a week's visit. His wife has never been to Canada - so we especially look forward to welcoming her. We will all go up to Ottawa for a few days too, to visit our other cousins. I don't even remember the last time we all got together, so it should be lots of fun.

Also have to get out in the garden for a while today - have a basket of iris corms that I dug & thinned yesterday that are waiting for replanting. Oh - also have to toss a tablecloth into the washer - it's a gift from India from our friends who spent the last year travelling there with their kids. Very vivid colours, so I've been soaking it to improve colourfastness - hopefully! Hmm ... better get off the computer & get to doing my day's tasks!!

Tis raining in my humble garden ... a great secret to many ... and there is room for rain ... thus it too falls ...

It was a good news day for me today. Last week I mistakenly left a favourite shawl on the GO train. I reported it to the lost & found later that day - they told me to check back on Tuesday (yesterday), which I did. I had faint hope of anybody turning it in - but it is a piece that I do love and it has lots of sentimentality for me. So - yesterday I heard that yes, they thought they had it in the Lost & Found at Union Station. So off I went this morning - and YES - happy dance - it was indeed my shawl!! A joyful reunion!! So that set my day up well - I'm still smiling!!

Smiling with you Carolla. It is so nice when the lost gets found.

We are still sorting out 'stuff' from our family camping trip. Person A lost 'this' Person B found 'that'! You probably know how that goes when twelve people of various ages spend several days together. Smallest items lost and found in the wrong car was a pair of boys' underwear, a plastic glass and a paperback book. Largest was a folding chair.

It was interesting watching how the dynamics played out as people did (or in one case didn't) do their share to make it successful and affordable for all. Apparently 'princesses' believe they are released from providing cash for camping fees. Also released by their own choices from bringing food to share or providing money to pay for it. The rest of us let her 'princess' to her heart's content . Our other kids helped with the expenses (which were reasonable) AND helped with necessary chores - meals, dishes etc.. We really appreciated the quiet way they ensured that the littlest one was ALWAYS being watched around the lake. Overall a successful family gathering, but we oldies did get quite tired. It was SO MUCH easier than being the only adults taking four grandudes camping!

Just got back from my GP's clinic - was out for more than 2 hours. Feeling a bit frustrated although I am happy with my GP. I am now on a 4th injectable - vitamin B12. I was planning on doing it at the pharmacy, but they had concerned doing a new med for me without a doctor present. I will start doing them myself eventually. I didn't ask the nurse about any training today though as past experience suggests that's not the way to go on the first dose. Did get info on the supplies needed.

There are 4 different things in my blood tests that could contribute to fatigue so hopefully some of it is fixable. I don't know how to make sense of it though, as in the past when fatigued the same things were tested and were ok. I'm also at a loss with my B12, the last time I started oral supplements my values shot up, not sure why this didn't happen these last few months.
